Chapter Chaplain Bishop Tom Flanagan.    As we come to the end of our fraternal year, I would like to thank all the knights who participated in Bishop Cantu’s ordination and for those who will be at the ground breaking at St. Dominic on Saturday night. Last night at the confirmation at St. Brigid he was told of a young man who took the name of one of the Mexican priest who was martyr during the persecution of Catholic in Mexico. This reminds me of the relationship between asking the saints for help in our daily life and hope. When you think about the church you will notice that all of the most important events in your life will be told in the church record your baptism, your confirmation your marriage, your first reconciliation, your funeral mass. We must have a willingness to pray for people but it is important to let people know that we are praying for them. It provides an element of hope and with hope there is motivation for change and salvation.

He mentioned the praying of the Hail Mary by newscaster on MSNBC for Tim Russert. He mentioned that the program on the death of Tim Russert began with the first part of the Hail Mary and then after discussion amongst three of their newscasters ended with the final portion of the Hail Mary with one of the newscasters saying “we will close this program the way the good sisters taught us.” We should be very proud to be Catholic, proud of our church, proud of our family, proud of our brothers Knights. Bishop Flanagan continued, he encouraged all GK to write a simple card thanking each of their officers for their help this past year. It is important to appreciate all of your volunteers.

In the name of Archbishop Gomez and myself we thank all of the Knights for their help. Bishop Flanagan thanked all of us (Knights) and blessed all of us with these parting words “in this coming year to be ready to meet the challenges, and be full of charity and love.”
